I don’t care whether man actually stepped on the Moon or not; I think NASA put together a budget with Hollywood to see how much it would cost to film the trip to and from the Moon in a studio, and when they saw the price, they decided to spend their money on fuel, water, and dehydrated food and shoot it on location instead.

I like good stories (and good stories always contain a bit of lying), so I’d say this: man on the Moon is a great story, and governments lying are a universal fact, so what really matters is that Michael Collins was there.

The third man, the driver, the hitchhiker, the pilot, the photographer of the loneliest photograph of all time where everyone is, everyone was, and everyone will be, except him.

Lonely like the official logo of the Apollo 11 expedition: an eagle landing on the Moon and carrying an olive branch, a drawing made by him based on one of the country’s symbols and a universal symbol of maritime navigators, meaning the simple and emotional “land ahoy.”

Exactly like the photo he took.

Just as what matters is the journey and not the destination, the modus operandi matters more than the mission.

If no one lands, this moment will last forever, that’s why I didn’t mind stealing a documentary, an old film, and an interview with Michael and combining them with the track Modus Operandi by Photek, and I called this mix of images, overlays, and angles of a module incapable of landing simply (sorry, Neil) Modus Operandi.
