This is mighty crazy, to keep on rubbing at the same old thing.
Stubbornness is a good thing.
Lightnin' Hopkins, for example, was Black and Texan, born the son of former slaves, and before he died he was already recognized as one of the greatest Country Blues guitarists — a hybrid musical style that only the stubborn dare to explore.
For reasons like this and many others, the United States is a country of contrasts, and a clear example of that (and also a testament to the power and importance of architecture and urban planning) is the city of New York: densely populated, moving fast 24 hours a day, extremely vertical, and yet fully integrated with the sun, the king itself.
On every street, every corner, and of course in every park, the sun at some point shows its face.
You could even lie and say the word “sunny” comes from “Sun + NY,” and few would question it and as we all know, the sun stubbornly follows and fulfills the same path across the planet at exactly the same time every day.
And if there’s a sunny, stubborn city full of stubborn people in this world, it’s New York.
Tilt-Shift is a very interesting visual technique that makes people look like ants — and ants are especially stubborn, as well as fast.
So I took advantage of the contrast between hurried human ants going about their lives and the sunny morning vibe in Central Park, followed by a busy day and nightfall in the city, added the song Keep on Rubbin’ by PFM (with Lightnin' Hopkins' Mighty Crazy as sampler, originaly recorded at the Nola Penthouse Sound Studios in New York) , and simply called it Rubbing.
